A destination for the recreation and enjoyment of current and future generations.
The redesign and revitalization of Ely Memorial Park is a community-led initiative created by and for the residents of Lambertville.
Led by lifelong Lambertville resident and renowned designer Jim Hamilton, the project leverages the talents and generosity of individuals, local businesses, government and foundations to build a unique community asset of enduring value.
The plan refurbishes the Park’s existing features and plantings and adds new ones to make the space greener, safer, more welcoming and user-friendly.
Dated chain link fencing along the recreation fields, and no fencing in front of the elementary school and fire company is being updated with a continuum of classic elegant wrought iron and brick fencing and improved sidewalk lighting for pedestrian safety.
Community Plaza and Recreation Fields
We are creating an attractive and welcoming entrance and a community plaza with seating and down-lighting for safety. Enhanced food service area for events and new bleachers makes the area usable for not only ball games, but outdoor movies, live performances and picnics.
The “Coat of Arms” sculpture has been completed and a brick and bluestone Plaza at the Union Fire Company honoring the firefighters is planned. Attracting attendance by city residents, it will be used by the city’s four companies for Firehouse Suppers, cook-outs and fundraising events.
Standing inside the Park, the existing under-utilized Gazebo is being redesigned as a Pavilion for band concerts, plays and other community events and entertainment.
The Park’s new wrought iron and brick fencing will connect the school to the architectural character of the city and provide a safety barrier to traffic on Route 29. Slate tiles that can be used as a large open-air chalkboard serve as the new facade of the school’s gymnasium.
The Hamilton Fountain
A water feature will honor generations of the Hamilton family, benefactors of the Lambertville community. Surrounding bluestone seating will provide a welcoming gathering place at the South end of the Park.Give local… Make a difference!
