Firehouse Plaza

Firehouse Sculpture

A Firehouse Plaza at the Union Fire Company will be dedicated to the many devoted community firefighters who man the four volunteer fire companies of Lambertville. It will be used by all four fire companies for their Friday night dinners and cookouts, seasonal pie and plant sales, and other fundraising events.

The Plaza will feature a low brick wall in a semicircular shape to create seating for the Friday night dinners and other social gatherings. This new and attractive dedicated space for social gatherings will attract members of the community who currently don’t attend events at the firehouse.

The first nearly complete Friends of Ely Park project can be seen on the corner of Alexander Road and Route 29. This sculpture honoring the city’s firefighters, entitled “Coat of Arms”, was constructed of component parts of historic fire trucks and fire apparatus. When complete, the planting portion is awaiting funding, this northernmost section of the project will be representative of the quality of workmanship and spirit of community that will embody the remainder of the work.
